It was born with a summer soul, but it doesn?t plan to leave when the season ends. Facing the Arousa estuary, this space run by Leticia and Douglas proves that Sanxenxo can also be enjoyed when the tourist tide ebbs

They’re in Vilalonga, a quiet corner of Sanxenxo, far from the bustle of Silgar Beach, with an impressive view over the Arousa estuary and the island of A Toxa. Banana Verde gives a fresh twist to the traditional beach bar concept. Its story began with an idea that, according to its creators, “was always there in some way.”

Douglas and Leticia are the two minds behind this project, which continues the spirit of Pé na Praia, their first beach bar on A Lanzada, right on the sand. “We always wanted to have our own place where we could develop Pé na Praia without the usual limitations of a beachfront bar,” they explain. That’s how Banana Verde was born—a space seeking to combine simplicity, authenticity, and warmth, and which since opening has become a reference spot for both afternoons and mornings in the area.

When asked what sets Banana Verde apart from other summer venues, they’re clear: “Maybe the key isn’t to highlight differences, but to focus on what we do. From the start, we’ve offered juices and cocktails made with fresh fruit, and a simple, varied, and affordable menu. And of course, if there’s something that truly stands out, it’s our location. We have a beautiful view of the Arousa estuary, right in front of us,” says Douglas. “In essence, we’re a beach bar—but without a doubt, we’re something more,” he adds.

The cocktails, the atmosphere, the vinyl music sessions during vermouth hour—where bossa nova is never missing—and the panoramic view with A Toxa in the background complete the experience. Banana Verde stands as a peaceful alternative within Sanxenxo’s hospitality scene.

“Luckily, Sanxenxo is more than just Silgar. We’re five minutes from A Lanzada Beach, with easy access, a large parking area, and best of all, we’re far from traffic jams and crowds,” Douglas notes.

That calm, combined with the natural surroundings, was decisive in choosing the location: “Without a doubt, the first thing was the property itself. The moment we saw it, we fell in love. The rest came later.” The public has embraced their project. “We’re getting a great response. Overall, customers are happy with the result and come back whenever they can,” they say. “We welcome families, couples, groups of friends, young people, and seniors alike,” they point out.

The team also keeps their connection with Pé na Praia alive: “It’s our starting point, and as long as we can balance both, we’ll continue with the two projects.” Their plan is to stay open all year, closing only in January and February for a break.

This spot facing the estuary offers another way to enjoy Sanxenxo—without rushing, with good music, fresh flavors, and a view that says it all.
